Publication Ethics

Indonesian Journal of History and Islamic Civilization (IJHIC) is a national journal with peer reviews which is published twice a year in print and online by the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Adab and Humanities State Islamic University (UIN) Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember Indonesia. This statement describes the ethical behavior of all parties involved in publishing articles in IJHIC, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and publishers. This statement is based on Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

ISSUING ETHICS GUIDELINES
Publishing articles in IJHIC is an important building block in the development of a coherent and down-to-earth knowledge network. This is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. The articles reviewed support and contain the scientific method. Therefore, it is important to agree on standards of ethical behavior expected of all parties involved in publishing, namely: authors, journal editors, peer-reviewed partners, publishers, and the public.

The Faculty of Ushuluddin, Adab and Humanities State Islamic University (UIN) Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember as the publisher of IJHIC is responsible for overseeing all stages of publishing seriously and recognizing ethical and other responsibilities. The institution is committed to ensuring that reprint advertisements and other commercial revenues have no impact or influence on editorial decisions. It is also committed to assisting communication with journal managers and/or other publishers if it is deemed useful and necessary.

Issuance Decision
IJHIC's editors are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted should be published. The validation of the work and its importance to researchers and readers should always drive this decision. Editors can be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and are limited by the legal provisions that must be enforced regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors can confer with other editors or the assessment team in making this decision.

Fair Treatment
Editors always judge manuscripts based on their intellectual content regardless of the authors' race, sex, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality
Editors and editing staff may not disclose any information about manuscripts submitted to anyone other than authors, expert editors, peer reviewers, and publishers.

Notifications and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in the submitted manuscripts may not be used in the editor's own research without the express written consent of the authors.

ASSESSMENT TEAM OBLIGATIONS
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer reviewer's assessments help editors in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communication with authors can also help authors improve their writing.

Speed
Any selected evaluator who feels unqualified to assess the research reported in a manuscript or knows that his quick review will not be possible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the assessment process.

Confidentiality
Any manuscripts received for assessment must be treated as confidential documents. The document may not be shown or discussed with others unless authorized by the editor.

Standard of Objectivity
Assessments must be carried out objectively. Personal criticism of the author is not justified. Assessors must clearly state their views with supporting arguments.

Source Recognition
Assessors must identify relevant published works that were not cited by the author. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported must be accompanied by a relevant quote. An appraiser must also ask the editor to pay attention to any similarities or overlaps between the text being assessed and other writings that have been published.

Notifications and Conflicts of Interest
Confidential information or opinions obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and may not be used for personal gain. Assessors should not consider texts in which they have a conflict of interest arising from a competitive, cooperative, or other relationship or connection with any author, company, or institution associated with the article.

AUTHOR OBLIGATIONS
Reporting Standards

Authors must present an accurate report of the work created and an objective discussion of its significance. The main data must be represented accurately in writing. An article should include sufficient detail and references to allow others to repeat the work. Fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate statements are unethical and unacceptable behavior.

Authenticity and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works and that they are citing correctly when using someone else's work and/or words.

Multiple, Repeat, or Concurrent Issuance
An author generally may not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or major publication. It is unethical and unacceptable to submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time.

Source Recognition
Fair recognition of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that were influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Writing Authorship
Authorities should be limited to those who made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All people who made important contributions should be listed as co-authors. If there are other people who have participated in certain important aspects of the research project, they must be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The appropriate author must ensure that all appropriate co-authors are included in the paper and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to submit it for publication.

Notifications and Conflicts of Interest
All authors must disclose in their text any financial or other substantive conflicts that may be suspected of affecting the results or interpretation of their text. All financial support for the project must be disclosed.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If an author finds significant errors or inaccuracies in his published work, it is the author's obligation to immediately notify the editor or journal publisher and work with the editor to retract or correct the writing.

Free Author
Article writers are not required to pay for the submission, processing, or publication.

Plagiarism Check
Every article entered will be scanned for authenticity using the Turnitin plagiarism checker software.
